Greetings from the friendly yarn shop in Culpeper, Virginia. We are located just minutes from Rt. 29 between Warrenton and Charlottesville so please stop by to visit us whenever you're in our area. We offer a selection of fine yarns for knitters and crocheters plus hand-dyed rovings and beautiful drop spindles for the handspinning enthusiast.
Our shop carries everything from basic sweater yarns all the way to luxury fibers such as our shawl kits from Art Yarns or the exquisite Silk Shimmer from Blue Ridge Yarns that is hand-dyed in a neighboring Virginia county.

Many of our yarns are well-known favorites from companies such as Plymouth, Cascade, Universal Yarns, Kollage, Southwest Trading Company, JaggerSpun, Feza Yarns, Kraemer, Austermann, Schoeller and Stahl, Schoppel Wolle, Schulana, and Swedish Yarns. We also stock Shepherd's Wool from the Stonehedge Fiber Mill that we visited in Michigan several years ago.

We carry an ever-growing selection of hand-dyed yarns. In addition to the Blue Ridge Yarns, we currently stock hand-dyes from Green Dragon Yarns, The Schaefer Yarn Company, Hazel Knits, Holiday Yarns, Chameleon Colorworks, Seacoast Hand-Dyed Yarns, Abstract Fibers, Shalimar Yarns, Misty Mountain Farm, and more.
We continue to add and change yarns so look for new ones from now throughout the spring. There should be something new every few weeks.
Notions and More
If you're in need of knitting needles, we carry addi Turbo, addi Lace, and addi interchangeables from Skacel, Chiao Goo Lace and interchangeable needles, as well as DPNs, HiyaHiya circulars in bamboo and steel, HiyaHiya interchangeables, and HiyaHiya DPNs. Straight needles include Brittany birch, Chiao Goo bamboo, and Bryspun flexibles. Our Denise Interchangeable knitting needle and Tunisian crochet hook sets are made here in Virginia and they now come in colors and attractive roll-up cases.
And, we stock crochet hooks, books, and a variety of notions and accessories, jewelry, handmade stitch markers, and a few gift items including our unique Piedmont Word Bowls. We also sell Creative Knitting and Crochet magazines.
Our spinning fibers are hand-dyed by Chameleon Colorworks, Greenwood Fiberworks, Abstract Fibers, and Misty Mountain Farm plus we have drop spindles from Kundert, KCL Woods, and DyakCraft. We can also make recommendations of other central Virginia shops that focus on spinning and weaving.

We are also fortunate to have author and knitwear designer Mary Gildersleeve as a member of our staff. Mary teaches some of our classes and her new By Hand With Heart designs just seem to fly off her needles. Her lace ponchos and capelets have been particularly popular. One of Mary's designs appears on the cover of More Knitting in the Sun and she recently had one of her projects featured in an article on Knit-alongs in The Knitter, a British publication. She has also written several books. We sell Mary's patterns at the shop.

We are conveniently located in Culpeper, Virginia just minutes from the southernmost exit (Rt. 29 business) or from Rt. 3 or Rt. 15. You can reach us in an hour or less from Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Front Royal, Sperryville, Warrenton, Harrisonburg, or much of Northern Virginia, and in about 90 minutes from Richmond or Washington, D. Our classroom is large, comfortable and separate from the sales area. Whenever possible we run a full schedule of weekend knitting classes in fall, winter, and spring, beginner knitting and beginner crocheting classes several times a year during the week, beginner spinning at least twice a year, and both a knitting and a spinning retreat.
